Alex Brown is originally from Snellville, Georgia. He received a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Belhaven University in 2020 along with the Refiners Award. While at Belhaven, Brown worked with choreographers such as Steve Rooks, Ravenna Tucker-Wagnon, and David Keary. During the summer of 2019, Brown trained at Kansas City Ballet with Sarah Lamb and Charmaine Hunter. Upon graduating Belhaven, Brown joined Bruce Wood Dance in August 2020 and has performed in works by Jiří Kylián, Bruce Wood, Lar Lubovich, Twyla Tharp, Joy Bollinger, Kimi Nikaidoh, Omar Roman DeJesus, Yin Yue, Norbert De La Cruz, Ben Needham-Wood, and Gregory Dolbashian. Most recently, has been invited to perform at the Guggenheim Museum to honor Lar Lubovich for his Birthday and 55th anniversary of the Lar Lubovich Dance Company. Since joining Bruce Wood, Brown has been able to premiere four choreographic works for the company.
While a company member at Bruce Wood, Alex also served as ballet faculty at a studio in Plano, TX for 3 years and became the director of the program. Coaching, teaching, setting rep, and choreographing are some of his favorite things to do when not dancing. After 5 years with Bruce Wood Dance Dallas, Brown is looking forward to embarking on a new adventure as a Terminator.
